The Inés María Mendoza Montessori school community has some incredible stories that will give you a deeper understanding of the meaningful experiences and the positive impact Montessori education has on students and their families. Watch the video to learn more about how Instituto Nueva Escuela (INE) is supporting the growth and development of Caimito's children and youth.

Academic Program - The Academic Program seeks to train Montessori guides, assistants, and directors who serve the children and youth of Puerto Rico. INE offers courses for the Certification of Montessori Guides at all educational levels: Infants and Toddlers, Early Childhood, Elementary I, Elementary II, Secondary I, and School Administrator. It also offers a course for Assistants and an introductory course on Montessori Philosophy for support staff in Montessori public schools. INE is affiliated with the American Montessori Society (AMS) and accredited by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE) at the Infants and Toddlers, Early Childhood, Elementary I, Elementary II, and Secondary I educational levels. The School Administrator course is affiliated with AMS.

The Montessori Curriculum Implementation Assistants Program began as an initiative by dedicated mothers who volunteered to support teachers in applying Montessori principles in the classroom. Over time, this program has evolved, and today it offers local families new opportunities for employment at INE. By becoming Curriculum Implementation Assistants, community members can gain valuable skills and experience in Montessori education, creating a pathway for social mobility. This program not only strengthens the connection between families and the school but also empowers individuals by providing them with meaningful work that contributes to the educational growth of students while fostering a sense of pride and ownership within the community.

Casa Familiar, a cornerstone initiative, provides comprehensive emotional and social support to families. It offers individual and family psychological services, alternative therapies like yoga and art therapy, and recreational activities to promote mental well-being. Parents benefit from psycho-educational workshops and support groups that strengthen positive parenting practices, while the volunteer program empowers community members to build peace and foster transformative change. Casa Familiar is a sanctuary of care, resilience, and growth for the entire community.

Enraizando Program supports school environmental initiatives that promote connection with nature, environmental protection, and sustainable living. Through school gardens, pollinator gardens, butterfly gardens, and nurseries, students engage in hands-on experiences that address environmental issues. Environmental interpreters and specialists in agroecology accompany teachers and students with regular consultations, workshops, and training. They guide the development of various projects, acting as mentors. At Inés M. Mendoza’s school garden, “El Paraíso,” students learn to plant, care for, and grow vegetables and medicinal plants. Teacher Rosa is grateful for the garden, which enriches students' academic growth by integrating subjects like language, cultural studies, and mathematics.

Together, we’re breaking the cycle of child poverty. Invest in Montessori education and Transformation programs through INE.
