Interest in the Montessori methodology grows in the west side of the island
The Instituto Nueva Escuela (INE) began this summer to offer the course Introduction to Montessori Philosophy in the western area of Puerto Rico after the interest of new schools in the pedagogy and Public Montessori project.
During INE's 14 years as a non-profit organization training teachers in this educational pedagogy, it has offered courses from Río Piedras, where the organization's headquarters are located.
The distance has not prevented schools from coming to the project, such as the Alejandro Tapia and Rivera schools in Lajas and Professor Juana Rosario in Aguada, however, new schools in the area are beginning to be interested and the possibility of starting a new project is born, to which they call the INE in the west.
Currently, the initiative is in its early phases, one of them being to start a survey of people interested in becoming Montessori guides, and thus be able to find out what courses could be offered in the coming years.
This project has the support of the mayor of Aguada, Christian Cortés, who is interested in the growth of public Montessori education in his municipality.
It is expected that by this summer of 2023 the INE faculty will grow and courses can be given simultaneously in Río Piedras and in the west.
If you are from the western area and are interested in becoming certified as a Montessori guide, we invite you to complete the following form.
