INE at SanSe

Andrea Santiago and Xavier Rivera from the Communications area started this great party on Friday.

This year 2025 at Instituto Nueva Escuela (INE) we begin with the joy that comes with the San Sebastián Street Festivals, which close Christmas season in Puerto Rico.

We joined the “Voy subiendo, Voy bajando” (I’m going up, I’m going down) campaign from January 17 to 19 to publicize the work we do as a non-profit organization to benefit public education.

Many of those present visited our table, located at the headquarters of the Puerto Rican Institute of Culture (ICP). Thanks to the collaboration of the ICP, we were able to have a space where people learned about our educational and social legacy to the archipelago.

We also had the opportunity to ask several people what they knew about INE, Montessori and the Montessori public schools project, taking the opportunity to inform them through the responses received.

As people walked through the different spaces, they stopped at our table to testify to the excellence of Montessori education. They said that the fact that Montessori pedagogy is available and accessible in a public school is a gift for Puerto Rican children and youth.

New and old friends took photos with Montessori elements and SanSe-related materials.

Several teachers also took the opportunity to learn about the Montessori training courses we offer, as they expressed their desire to give themselves and the method a chance by training in transformative education.

For INE, being present at this cultural celebration represented affirming our identity and those we serve. We are a Puerto Rican nonprofit organization, unique and born from the unity of a community, just like the Fiestas.

We describe ourselves as unique, because we are currently the only educational center in Puerto Rico where teachers can train as Montessori guides, which benefits the teaching staff who no longer have to travel to the United States or Europe to study. This makes Montessori education accessible both geographically and economically, thanks to our allies who support the project.

Likewise, our space at SanSe allowed people to continue leaving footprints that transform lives and communities. If you also want to contribute to the work of INE, you can visit the website, www.inepr.org, to obtain your shirt and sticker alluding to our cultural heritage. We are extremely grateful to the people who supported us in this great celebration.
