Juan Ponce's Summer Camp resumes
After a break due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the community of the Juan Ponce de León school once again celebrates the summer camp that has been held in Juan Domingo since 1999.
Tamara Pantojas and Titón Adorno, two educators from the school, have been the coordinators of this project since its inception, creating a safe space for fun for students, especially those new to the school community.
Every year around a 100 up to 115 students are welcomed from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., boys and girls from 4 to 12 years old.
I believe each year has its magic. The summer camp came to give that space to children that needed to share, enjoy, play, go out of school, excursions…”, expressed Tamara.
The participants this year enjoyed many recreational activities, aquatic activities, which are their favorites according to Titón, tours, workshops and other activities where the happiness of the boys and girls could be perceived.
Each year brings something new, and its coordinators express that something that amazed them this year were the leaders who collaborated. The leaders who worked this year were a new group of young people.
These leaders are middle and high school students from the same school. Today Tamara and Titón thank each one of them for their commitment and passion, just as they thank the people who contribute and support this project so that it continues.
For Titón, the training experience was important to them. As the days went by, he was surprised by the capacity, maturity, and responsibility with which each one of them exercised their role.
