A new academic year begins at INE

On June 7th, the summer courses began at the New School Institute (INE), for adults, - teachers, teacher's assistants and people who come to be certified in the Montessori philosophy and methodology.

57 new students joined the certification program at different levels - Infants and Toddlers, Casa de Niños, Workshop I, Workshop II, High School and School directors. This group joins the teachers who started last year. A total of 111 students are participating in the certification courses this summer.

''This year, 17 Montessori teachers from our school community join the group of facilitators who offer certification courses at INE. They accompany us, observe courses and prepare to be future “trainers” of the Academic Program'' Annabel Martinez, director of INE Academic Program, shared with joy.

Teachers return in small groups with enthusiasm to INE. There is already a taste of "normality". The reunions of the Montessori teacher’s community have been exciting. The community meets and celebrates life, seeing each other, hugging, and being healthy.

For the facilitator Vanesa Mulero, who has been at INE since 2011, the adults who began their Montessori certification last summer are "brave" recognizing that the courses are intense, and within the pandemic the challenges multiply.

For INE, summers are the opportunity to grow as a family. With each adult that gets certified,  the Montessori public school project grows stronger. Since INE began in 2005 until today, more than 334 teachers have been certified, as well as 459 assistants, without leaving Puerto Rico.
